While the health promoter model is often associated with primary healthcare campaigns in the developing world, health workers are starting to become key staff in US programs providing health education, child care and parenting education. Health Promoters (promoters de Salud, Lay health workers) are part of our medical treatment for the uninsured. Health Promoters help facility outreach, identify and monitor chronic health conditions among the uninsured patients by helping with timely screening, follow-up and treatment. Health Promoters participate in patient education, give referrals to other resources in the community and provide individual support. If you are interested to participate and be an advocate for your community come and visit our clinic.
